Improve Your Smile, Improve Your Life!

If you’re interested in getting a truly perfect smile, dental veneers in Houston from EaDo Family Dental may be the right choice for you! Dental veneers are small, thin dental prostheses, usually made out of porcelain or other ceramic materials. They are shaped to fit perfectly over your existing teeth, covering up gaps, staining, and other imperfections permanently. Learn more about how veneers are placed, their benefits, and what issues they can treat below or give us a call at (713) 474-2334!

What Can Veneers Treat?

Veneers are primarily a cosmetic procedure, though they can correct some minor bite issues and strengthen teeth. Typically, veneers are used to treat patients who have:

  • Misshapen teeth
  • Chipped teeth
  • Tooth discoloration
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Misaligned or slightly crooked teeth

If you only have cosmetic issues with your smile, veneers are a great treatment option. Other issues like serious bite problems will require orthodontics, and damaged teeth may require a crown or other restoration.

The Veneer Placement Procedure

The placement of veneers is non-invasive and fast, and it usually takes two appointments.

During your first appointment, Dr. Bianca Williams or Dr. John Ma will clean your teeth, and remove a very thin layer of enamel from each tooth that will be treated with a veneer. This is done to ensure a seamless fit.

Then, images and impressions of your teeth are taken, and veneers are manufactured at a third-party lab. These veneers will fit over your existing teeth perfectly, and match them in color. They usually take about 2-3 weeks to create, and you are fit with temporary veneers while you wait for your permanent set.

At your next appointment, your veneers will be checked for fit, color, and quality. If everything looks and feels right, Dr. Williams or Dr. Ma will coat your teeth with a strong dental adhesive, and apply the veneers, permanently bonding them into place. The entire procedure is non-invasive, fast, and easy. You’re just a few appointments away from the smile of your dreams.

The Benefits Of Veneers

Veneers have a number of benefits that makes them a great choice as a cosmetic dentistry treatment.

  • Natural look and feel – Veneers are indistinguishable from real teeth, and they do not feel artificial or unnatural.
  • Requires no special care – Veneers do not require any special care. Just brush and floss normally! With proper care, they can easily last over 15 years.
  • Resists staining – The hard, non-porous ceramic surface of porcelain is very stain-resistant, so your veneers will remain bright and pearly-white for years to come.

Are Veneers Right For Me?

Veneers may be right for you if your mouth is healthy but you have multiple cosmetic flaws with your smile, such as gaps in your smile, stained teeth, or misshapen teeth. Due to their versatility, veneers can be used to treat almost any cosmetic problem with your teeth.

However, veneers are not right for you if you have multiple damaged or decayed teeth. You may need fillings, crowns, or root canals to treat damaged teeth before you can get veneers or other cosmetic treatments.

In addition, veneers might not be a good option for you if your teeth are crooked or you have major bite issues. You may need to get orthodontic treatment like Invisalign before you can have veneers at EaDo Family Dental.

Still not sure if veneers are right for you? The best way to find out is with a consultation with a local Houston dentist at EaDo Family Dental. At your appointment, Dr. Bianca Williams or Dr. John Ma can discuss your oral health, the issues affecting your smile, and your options for restoring your teeth, including veneers, teeth whitening, dental bonding, and more. How Long Do Veneers Last?

With proper oral care and hygiene, you can expect your veneers to last you anywhere between 10-15 years or longer. Veneers are the most long-lasting and durable method of cosmetic tooth restoration, so your new smile will look great for years to come.

If you do crack, dislodge, or damage one of your veneers, it can typically be replaced for a reasonable cost. Since veneers are permanent and the treatment is not reversible, you will need to replace any veneer that becomes damaged.

To make sure your veneers last a long time, it’s best to avoid behaviors and habits that could damage them or dislodge them prematurely. For example, you should not chew very hard foods like popcorn kernels, ice, or hard candies with your veneers, and should chew them with your rear molars.

Biting or chewing non-food objects like fingernails, pens, or pencils can also contribute to premature veneer wear & tear, so you should try to avoid this habit. You also should never use your teeth as tools to do things like rip open bags or packages, or to help you tear tape. This can damage your veneers and your teeth.

Aftercare For Veneers

After your teeth are trimmed, you will need to take a few precautions to make sure that you do not dislodge or damage your temporary veneers, since they are much more delicate than your permanent veneers will be. You can brush and floss normally, but you should avoid very chewy, hard, sticky, or crunchy foods, as these could dislodge the temporary veneers.

Once your temporary veneers have been removed and your permanent veneers are attached, you don’t need to do anything special to take care of them. You can resume your normal diet, and simply brush twice a day for two minutes and floss once per day. You should also see Dr. Bianca Williams or Dr. John Ma for a checkup and teeth cleaning every six months.
