Dentures in Houston
What are Dentures?
Dentures are custom-made replacements for missing teeth and can be taken out and put back into your mouth. They are designed to closely resemble your natural teeth and enhance your smile. With advancements in modern dentistry, dentures have evolved to be more comfortable and natural-looking than ever before. Dentures in Houston are a cost-effective and reliable solution for those who have lost some or all of their teeth, either due to age, disease, or injury. They not only restore the function of teeth but also help in maintaining the structure of the mouth, making it easier to eat and speak better than you could without teeth.
The Denture Treatment Process
Dental Examination and Impressions
The first step in the denture process is a comprehensive dental examination by our Houston dentists. Dr. Williams or Dr. Ma at EaDo Family Dental will evaluate your oral health and discuss your dental needs and goals. They will then take impressions of your mouth, which will be used to custom-make your dentures to fit perfectly. This step is crucial in ensuring that your dentures will be comfortable and functional.
Denture Fabrication
Once your impressions are taken, they are sent to a dental laboratory where your dentures are crafted. The dentures are made to mimic the color, shape, and size of your natural teeth, providing a realistic and aesthetically pleasing result. This process may take a few weeks, during which you may be given a set of temporary dentures to wear.
Fitting and Adjustments
After your dentures are ready, you’ll return to EaDo Family Dental for a fitting. During this visit, Dr. Williams or Dr. Ma will adjust and trim the dentures as necessary to ensure a perfect fit. They will also provide guidance on how to care for your dentures and maintain good oral hygiene.
Types Of Dentures
Full Dentures
Full dentures, also known as complete dentures, are used when all the teeth are missing. They can be either “conventional” or “immediate.” Made after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has begun to heal, conventional dentures are ready for placement in the mouth about 8 to 12 weeks after the teeth have been removed. They are custom made to fit your mouth perfectly and provide a natural-looking smile.
Partial Dentures
Partial dentures are an excellent solution when not all of your teeth need to be removed. These are replacement teeth attached to a gum-colored plastic base, which is connected by a metal framework to hold the denture in place. They are used when one or more natural teeth remain in the upper or lower jaw. They not only fill in the spaces created by missing teeth but also prevent other teeth from changing position.
Implant Supported Dentures
Implant-supported dentures provide superior stability as they are anchored to dental implants surgically placed in your jawbone. These dentures snap onto the implants, providing a secure fit and natural-looking appearance. They are more comfortable and reliable than traditional dentures, and they help preserve bone structure, reducing the risk of facial sagging. Implant-supported dentures can be a life-changing solution for those with multiple missing teeth.
