We hope everyone in Houston stays safe and well while we rebuild. But sometimes injuries and damage can’t be avoided. If you find that you’ve suffered a dental injury, please reach out to us at EaDo Family Dental. We’re open and available to new and existing patients in Houston and the surrounding areas.
What Counts as a Dental Emergency?
There are a wide variety of issues that can qualify as dental emergencies. These include:
- Gum or cheek injury/pain
- Loose/impacted tooth
- Knocked out (avulsed) tooth
- Cracked tooth
- Broken tooth
- Chipped tooth
- Severe toothache
Generally, any tooth discomfort or damage caused by impact qualifies as a dental emergency, especially if there is a severe amount of pain and/or bleeding. Left unaddressed, each one of these injuries can lead to a variety of painful symptoms.
When Should I See a Dentist for a Dental Emergency?
If you or your child has suffered a dental injury you should see a dentist within 12 hours of the accident. This is especially crucial for a severe injury like an avulsed or a broken tooth. The faster you get help for the dental emergency, the greater the chance that the tooth can be saved, and pain can be minimized.
